Tiny Bites for a Galactic Gala: 15 Star Wars Party Desserts

As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.

Coruscant is a city that covers a whole planet, and a gala there would be a standing affair: drink in one hand, conversation everywhere. These Star Wars party desserts are built for that crowd. The 15 tiny bites below are grouped by how a guest actually eats them on their feet, from one-bite pops that need no napkin to small glasses that need a spoon.

Links marked (paid link) are affiliate links. The pictures are styling inspiration, so search results will vary.

Every bite has a real recipe with a yield, US and metric amounts, F and C temperatures and an allergen line. Several old recipes on this page had problems, from a mousse that could seize to an undercooked meringue, and those are fixed. Use it for a Star Wars watch night, a birthday, or a December cocktail party that needs something more playful than a cookie tray.

Plan Your Star Wars Party Desserts by the Tray

Start with the guest count. Our planning rule: 2 to 3 tiny desserts per guest after a meal, 4 to 6 if dessert is the main event of a two to three hour party. Build each tray from four kinds of bite:

  • One chocolate bite, because it always goes first.
  • One fruit or citrus bite to cut the richness.
  • One creamy cup for guests who like a spoon.
  • One chewy or crunchy bite, which holds up best if the party runs long.

For 24 guests after dinner, one batch each of the truffles (24), lemon tartlets (24), mousse shots (10 to 12) and coconut comets (about 20) gives roughly 80 pieces. Put out half, keep half chilled, and refill once. Stack silver cocktail napkins (paid link) at both ends of the table, set an empty tray beside the cups for used glasses, and keep every bite small enough to finish in two bites with a drink in the other hand.

One-Bite Pops: No Napkin Needed

The backbone of the tray. No drips, nothing to put down, and most keep one to three days, so make these first.

Dark Side Dark Chocolate Truffles

Round dark chocolate truffles dusted in cocoa powder on a dark plate scattered with cocoa

Makes about 24. Active 30 minutes plus 2 hours chilling. Keeps 1 week refrigerated. Contains: milk; check chocolate for soy and nuts.

Ingredients

  • 8 oz (225 g) dark chocolate, 60 to 70 percent, finely chopped
  • 1/2 cup (120 ml) heavy cream
  • 1 tsp vanilla, or 1/4 tsp peppermint or orange extract, plus a pinch of salt
  • 1/4 cup (20 g) unsweetened cocoa powder for rolling

Steps

  1. Heat the cream until it just simmers, pour it over the chocolate, wait 2 minutes, then stir from the center until glossy. Stir in vanilla and salt.
  2. Cover and chill until scoopable, about 2 hours.
  3. Scoop level teaspoons with a small cookie scoop (paid link), roll quickly between cool palms, and drop into the cocoa.
  4. Keep refrigerated. Set out 20 minutes before serving.

A 2 to 1 ratio of chocolate to cream by weight holds its shape on a tray.

Meteorite Macarons

Pastel macarons in mint, blue, pink and yellow stacked on a dark plate with scattered crumbs

Makes about 24. Active 1 hour plus resting. Keeps 3 days refrigerated, best on day 2. Contains: tree nuts (almond), eggs, milk.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup (96 g) superfine almond flour
  • 1 3/4 cups (210 g) powdered sugar
  • 3 large egg whites, room temperature
  • 1/4 cup (50 g) granulated sugar
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla and gel food coloring (optional)
  • Filling: 1/2 cup (113 g) soft unsalted butter, 1 1/2 cups (180 g) powdered sugar, 1 tsp vanilla or 2 tbsp seedless raspberry jam, 1 to 2 tsp milk

Steps

  1. Line two sheets with parchment or a silicone macaron mat (paid link). Sift the almond flour and powdered sugar together twice.
  2. Whip whites to foam, add the granulated sugar a spoonful at a time, and whip to stiff, glossy peaks with the vanilla and color.
  3. Fold in the almond mixture by thirds until the batter falls in a thick ribbon. Pipe 1 1/2 inch (4 cm) rounds and tap the sheets hard.
  4. Rest 30 to 60 minutes until not tacky. Bake one sheet at a time at 300 F (150 C) for 15 to 20 minutes, until the shells lift cleanly.
  5. Beat the filling until fluffy, pipe onto half the cooled shells, and sandwich.

Fixed: the old filling used 1/4 cup of extract, which tastes harsh and splits buttercream.

Comet Coconut Macaroons

Comet-shaped golden coconut macaroon drizzled with dark chocolate stripes against a starry black background

Makes about 20. Active 15 minutes. Keeps 5 days airtight. Contains: eggs; check chocolate for milk and soy. Gluten-free with labeled coconut and chocolate.

Ingredients

  • 2 2/3 cups (200 g) sweetened shredded coconut
  • 1/3 cup (65 g) granulated sugar
  • 2 large egg whites
  • 1 tsp vanilla and 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup (90 g) dark chocolate chips

Steps

  1. Heat the oven to 325 F (160 C) and line a sheet with parchment.
  2. Mix everything but the chocolate until evenly damp. Shape heaped tablespoons into teardrops with a tapered tail.
  3. Bake 20 to 25 minutes until the edges are deep golden. Cool on a rack.
  4. Melt the chocolate in 30 second bursts and stripe it across each comet with a fork.

Sweetened coconut already carries sugar, so this uses 1/3 cup rather than the old 1/2 cup.

Space Explorer’s Brownie Bites

Star-shaped chocolate brownie bites topped with rainbow sprinkles on a blue surface beside a jar of sprinkles

Makes about 24 small stars. Active 15 minutes. Keeps 4 days airtight. Contains: wheat, eggs, milk.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup (113 g) unsalted butter
  • 1 cup (200 g) granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs and 1 tsp vanilla
  • 1/3 cup (30 g) unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 cup (65 g) all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 tsp each salt and baking powder
  • 1/4 cup (45 g) sprinkles

Steps

  1. Heat the oven to 350 F (175 C). Grease a silicone star mold (paid link) or a mini muffin pan.
  2. Melt the butter, then whisk in sugar, eggs and vanilla. Stir in cocoa, flour, salt and baking powder until just combined.
  3. Fill molds three quarters full and bake 12 to 16 minutes, until a toothpick shows moist crumbs. Cool 10 minutes, then unmold.
  4. Brush tops with warm jam and press on sprinkles.

Fixed: the old 20 to 25 minutes suits a full 8 inch (20 cm) pan, not small molds. You can bake a pan that way and cut stars with a cutter.

Two-Bite Napkin Bites

The showpieces, and they crumble, so keep them near the napkins. Fill as late as you can so shells stay crisp.

Celestial Raspberry Tarts

Mini tarts topped with glossy pink raspberry glaze and whole raspberries on a mirrored tray with a city sunset behind

Makes 24. Active 45 minutes plus chilling. Shells keep 3 days airtight; fill on the day. Contains: wheat, milk, eggs.

Ingredients

  • Shells: 1 cup (125 g) all-purpose flour, 1/4 cup (30 g) powdered sugar, 1/2 cup (113 g) cold unsalted butter in cubes, 1 large egg yolk, 1 to 2 tsp cold water
  • Filling: 1 cup (125 g) raspberries, 1/4 cup (50 g) sugar, 1 tbsp cornstarch, 1 tbsp lemon juice, 1/4 cup (60 ml) water
  • Glaze: 1/4 cup (80 g) seedless raspberry jam warmed with 1 tsp water, plus 24 raspberries

Steps

  1. Pulse flour, sugar and cold butter to coarse crumbs, then add yolk and just enough water to clump.
  2. Press a level tablespoon into each cup of a 24-cup mini muffin pan (paid link), prick, and chill 30 minutes. Bake at 350 F (175 C) for 15 to 18 minutes until golden.
  3. Simmer the filling, stirring, then boil 1 minute until thick and clear. Cool.
  4. Fill shells, brush with glaze, top with a raspberry, and chill.

Fixed: the old recipe cut in softened butter, which makes a greasy crust.

Shared Base: Lemon Curd for Two Bites

Makes about 1 1/2 cups (360 ml), enough for 24 bites; double it for both lemon recipes. Keeps 1 week refrigerated. Contains: eggs, milk. This stovetop curd replaces the old baked filling judged by its wobble.

  • 1/2 cup (120 ml) fresh lemon juice and 1 tbsp grated zest
  • 3/4 cup (150 g) granulated sugar
  • 3 large eggs
  • 6 tbsp (85 g) unsalted butter, cubed
  1. Whisk juice, zest, sugar and eggs in a heavy saucepan.
  2. Whisk constantly over medium-low heat until it coats a spoon and reads 170 F (77 C) on an instant-read thermometer (paid link), 8 to 10 minutes. Do not boil.
  3. Strain, whisk in the butter, press wrap on the surface, and chill 2 hours.

Starlight Lemon Tartlets

Round lemon tartlets with bright yellow curd and small purple edible flowers on a dark stone surface beside a lemon half

Makes 24. Active 10 minutes once the curd is made. Fill within 2 hours of serving. Contains: wheat, milk, eggs.

Ingredients

  • 24 baked shells: the raspberry tart shells above or store-bought mini phyllo shells (paid link)
  • 1 batch lemon curd, chilled
  • 24 small edible flowers (paid link) such as violas, or lemon zest

Steps

  1. Pipe about 1 tbsp curd into each shell.
  2. Top with a flower or zest and chill until serving.

Use only flowers sold as edible; florist flowers may be sprayed.

Light-Speed Lemon Meringue Bites

Lemon meringue bites in golden crusts topped with tall white piped meringue swirls on a white cake stand

Makes 24. Active 40 minutes once the curd is made. Serve the same day, refrigerated until then. Contains: wheat, milk, eggs.

Ingredients

  • Crust: 1 cup (100 g) graham cracker crumbs, 2 tbsp (25 g) sugar, 1/4 cup (57 g) melted butter
  • 1 batch lemon curd, chilled
  • Meringue: 3 large egg whites, 3/4 cup (150 g) granulated sugar, 1/8 tsp cream of tartar

Steps

  1. Line a mini muffin pan with mini foil baking cups (paid link). Press 2 tsp crust into each and bake at 350 F (175 C) for 6 to 8 minutes. Cool and fill with curd.
  2. Whisk whites, sugar and cream of tartar in a bowl over simmering water until the sugar dissolves and it reaches 160 F (71 C).
  3. Whip on high until stiff, glossy and cool, about 5 minutes.
  4. Pipe a swirl on each bite. Leave white or brown the tips with a kitchen torch (paid link).

Fixed: the old recipe paired 1 cup of whites (about 8) with only 1/2 cup sugar and a 10 minute bake that does not reliably cook them. This Swiss meringue is heated to 160 F (71 C) first.

Cosmic Mini Cheesecakes

Mini cheesecakes with graham crusts topped with raspberries, blueberries and chocolate drizzle on a starry dark table

Makes about 30. Active 25 minutes plus 4 hours chilling. Keeps 4 days refrigerated. Contains: milk, eggs, wheat.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup (100 g) graham cracker crumbs and 1/4 cup (57 g) melted butter
  • 16 oz (450 g) cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup (100 g) granulated sugar and 1 tsp vanilla
  • 2 large eggs, room temperature
  • Berries and chocolate or caramel sauce

Steps

  1. Heat the oven to 325 F (160 C) and line two mini muffin pans. Press 1 heaped tsp of buttered crumbs into each.
  2. Beat cream cheese, sugar and vanilla smooth, then the eggs one at a time on low.
  3. Fill nearly full and bake 15 to 18 minutes, until edges are set and centers barely wobble.
  4. Chill at least 4 hours. Top with berries and a drizzle before serving.

Fixed: the old 20 to 25 minutes was for full-size cups and cracks minis.

Starship S’Mores Bites

Graham cracker s'mores sandwiches layered with thick marshmallow and chocolate stacked on a plate on a wooden table

Makes 24. Active 15 minutes. Best within 2 hours. Contains: wheat, milk, soy (check labels).

Ingredients

  • 12 graham cracker sheets, each broken into 4 rectangles
  • 1 cup (175 g) chocolate chips melted with 1 tbsp (14 g) butter
  • 12 large marshmallows, halved crosswise

Steps

  1. Lay 24 cracker pieces on a foil-lined sheet, 6 inches (15 cm) below the broiler. Spread chocolate on all 48 pieces.
  2. Top the 24 on the sheet with a marshmallow half and broil 30 to 60 seconds, watching constantly, until golden.
  3. Press the other pieces on, chocolate side down, and cool 10 minutes.

Fixed: the old method toasted marshmallows after closing the sandwich, which cannot work.

Spoon and Glass Desserts

Cups need a spoon and a home for the empty glass, so put them at the end of the table beside the used-glass tray. Use 2 oz shot glasses with mini spoons (paid link) for mousse and panna cotta and clear 3 oz dessert cups (paid link) for parfaits.

Intergalactic Chocolate Mousse Shots

Chocolate mousse in shot glasses topped with gold star cookies in front of a backdrop of planets and stars

Makes 10 to 12 two-ounce shots. Active 20 minutes plus 2 hours chilling. Keeps 2 days refrigerated. No raw eggs. Contains: milk, plus wheat in the cookies.

Ingredients

  • 4 oz (115 g) semisweet chocolate, chopped
  • 1 1/4 cups (300 ml) cold heavy cream, divided
  • 2 tbsp (25 g) sugar, 1 tsp vanilla and a pinch of salt
  • Small star cookies brushed with edible gold luster dust (paid link)

Steps

  1. Pour 1/4 cup (60 ml) steaming cream over the chocolate and stir smooth. Cool to barely warm, about 85 F (29 C).
  2. Whip the remaining 1 cup (240 ml) cream with sugar, vanilla and salt to soft peaks.
  3. Fold a third of the cream into the chocolate, then fold in the rest.
  4. Pipe into glasses and chill 2 hours. Add stars just before serving.

Fixed: the old method folded melted chocolate into cold cream, which can seize, then added milk, which deflates it. Use only dust labeled edible.

Planetary Panna Cotta

Small glass cups of vanilla panna cotta topped with red fruit glaze, a blueberry and a slice of fruit on a black tray

Makes 8 two-ounce cups. Active 15 minutes plus 4 hours setting. Keeps 3 days refrigerated. Contains: milk. Gelatin is not vegetarian.

Ingredients

  • 2 tsp (about 6 g) powdered gelatin and 3 tbsp (45 ml) cold water
  • 2 cups (480 ml) heavy cream
  • 1/3 cup (65 g) sugar and 1 tsp vanilla
  • Glaze: 1/2 cup (160 g) strawberry or raspberry jam warmed with 1 tbsp lemon juice, strained
  • A few berries

Steps

  1. Sprinkle the gelatin over the cold water and let it bloom 5 minutes.
  2. Warm cream and sugar until steaming, without boiling. Off the heat, stir in gelatin until dissolved, then vanilla.
  3. Pour into glasses and chill 4 hours. Add cooled glaze and a berry before serving.

Full-fat coconut milk works for dairy-free, but it is not lighter, as the old post claimed.

Galactic Fruit Parfaits

Layered parfaits of yogurt, strawberries, blueberries and mango in clear glasses with a striped straw in front of a nebula backdrop

Makes 8 small cups. Active 15 minutes. Assemble within 1 hour of serving. Contains: milk; check granola for nuts and gluten.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups (480 g) plain Greek yogurt sweetened with 1 to 2 tbsp honey or maple syrup
  • 2 cups (300 g) mixed berries and diced mango
  • 1 cup (120 g) granola

Steps

  1. Layer yogurt, fruit and a little granola in each cup, twice.
  2. Finish with fruit and chill. For a long party, add granola only on top, just before serving.

Assemble at the Last Minute

Warm churros go limp, shortcakes soak through and gelato melts. Prep the parts ahead and assemble in small rounds during the party.

Celestial Churro Bites

Short cinnamon sugar churro pieces piled on a plate around a small glass bowl of chocolate dipping sauce

Makes about 36 bites. Active 40 minutes. Best within 30 minutes of frying. Contains: wheat, eggs, milk.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup (240 ml) water, 1/2 cup (113 g) butter, 1 tbsp sugar, 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 cup (125 g) all-purpose flour
  • 3 large eggs and 1 tsp vanilla
  • Neutral oil for frying
  • 1/2 cup (100 g) sugar mixed with 1 tbsp cinnamon
  • Dip: 4 oz (115 g) dark chocolate melted into 1/2 cup (120 ml) hot cream

Steps

  1. Boil water, butter, sugar and salt. Add the flour at once and stir over low heat 1 minute until the dough pulls away.
  2. Cool 5 minutes, then beat in eggs one at a time, then vanilla.
  3. Pipe 2 inch (5 cm) lengths through a large open star tip onto parchment and freeze 15 minutes.
  4. Heat 2 inches (5 cm) of oil to 350 F (175 C). Fry a few at a time until deep golden, 3 to 4 minutes, then roll in cinnamon sugar.

Fixed: the old recipe gave no oil temperature. Use a thermometer, never leave hot oil, keep a lid nearby, and never put water on an oil fire. To bake instead: 400 F (200 C) for 20 to 25 minutes.

Supernova Strawberry Shortcakes

Stacked mini shortcakes filled with whipped cream and sliced strawberries on a white plate with rainbow sprinkles

Makes about 12. Active 30 minutes. Assemble within 1 hour of serving. Contains: wheat, milk.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup (125 g) all-purpose flour, 1/4 cup (50 g) sugar, 1 tsp baking powder, 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/4 cup (57 g) cold unsalted butter, cubed
  • 1/2 cup (120 ml) heavy cream, plus extra for brushing
  • 1 1/2 cups (225 g) diced strawberries tossed with 1 tbsp sugar
  • 1 cup (240 ml) cold heavy cream whipped with 2 tbsp powdered sugar

Steps

  1. Heat the oven to 400 F (200 C). Rub butter into the dry ingredients, then stir in cream just until it comes together.
  2. Pat 3/4 inch (2 cm) thick, cut 1 1/2 inch (4 cm) rounds, brush with cream, and bake 12 to 15 minutes. Cool.
  3. Split, fill with berries and cream, and replace the tops.

Galactic Gelato Cups

Clear cups of blue, yellow, orange and pink gelato swirls with wooden spoons on a sparkling silver surface

Makes 12 small cups. Active 20 minutes plus 1 hour freezing. Contains: milk; sorbet is usually dairy-free.

Ingredients

  • 3 pints (1.4 l) gelato or sorbet in three or four colors
  • 1 cup (150 g) mixed berries
  • 12 small cups and wooden spoons

Steps

  1. Scoop small balls onto a parchment-lined sheet chilled in the freezer, and freeze 1 hour.
  2. Fill chilled cups with two or three colors and a few berries, then return to the freezer.
  3. Serve six at a time on a tray set over ice.

Pre-scooping keeps them firm far longer than the old 30 minute freeze of filled cups.

Style the Table Like Coruscant’s City Levels

Coruscant is stacked: glittering upper levels, busy middle levels, a dark underworld below. A three-tier dessert stand (paid link) or clear acrylic display risers (paid link) turns 15 bites into a skyline. Put the polished bites (macarons, mousse, raspberry and lemon tarts) on top, cheesecakes, brownies and s’mores in the middle, and truffles, comets and churros at the bottom. Run battery fairy lights under clear risers, away from the food, and add a card for each bite with its allergens.

For drinks, our cosmic cocktails for Coruscant nights cover the cocktails and our Star Wars fizzy drinks cover the zero-proof side, and our planet-themed bar builds show how to set up the bar. Serving a meal first? Start with savory small plates inspired by Coruscant nightclubs or one of our Star Wars dinner recipes. Our Star Wars desserts and Star Wars cake ideas add a centerpiece.

Food Safety and Allergen Labels for a Standing Crowd

  • Two-hour rule: cream, curd, cheesecake and yogurt should not sit out over 2 hours, or 1 hour above 90 F (32 C). That is why the plan puts out half.
  • Eggs: all are cooked: curd to 170 F (77 C), meringue to 160 F (71 C), the rest baked. The mousse has none.
  • Nut-free as written: s’mores, cheesecakes, both tarts, meringue bites, mousse, panna cotta, churros, shortcakes and brownies. Check labels for “may contain” warnings.
  • Gluten-free with labeled brands: comets, truffles, panna cotta, mousse without the cookie, and gelato cups.
